Congress Passes Bill To Save Medicare Funding

In a last-minute effort to save doctors from getting a 21-percent pay cut in Medicare fees, congress overwhelmingly passed a bill Tuesday to protect how physicians get paid.

The bill was a near unanimous approval in both the house and the senate, and is not awaiting the president’s approval.

The bill also provides billions of extra dollars for health care programs for children and low-income families, including additional money for community health centers.
